Headrig Sawing Gets the Very Best Lumber from a Wide Range of Log Types

Logs sent to the sawmill headrigs (also called primary breakdown saws) are loaded onto a carriage and rotated to make an opening cut on the side with the best grade potential. Each log is automatically scanned for taper and adjusted for an even opening face cut. The Sawyer selects boards to be cut depending on the grade and size of the logs.
